HISTÓRIA
“Historia vero testis temporum, lux veritatis, vita memoriae, magistra vitae, nuntia vetustatis, qua voce alia, nisi oratories, immortalitati commendatur?”
This is most definitely the best known definition of history. Written by Cicero, in his De Oratore, it connects the appearance of what we prefer to call the studies of the past to the role of proof and, therefore, to the emergence of Greek rhetoric and medicine.
